High-Purity Nanodisc Transmembrane Proteins
BioCrest Sci provides 8 high-purity nanodisc transmembrane proteins in synthetic lipid bilayer discs — the gold-standard format for structural biology, SPR kinetics, and detergent-free functional assays.
What Are Nanodiscs?
Nanodiscs are discoidal lipid bilayers (~10 nm) stabilized by membrane scaffold proteins (MSPs). A membrane protein reconstituted into a nanodisc sits in a native-like lipid environment while remaining soluble in aqueous buffers — combining the best of both worlds: native membrane context without detergent.
Key Advantages
- Native lipid environment: preserves protein function and ligand-binding properties
- Detergent-free: compatible with SPR, BLI, and other label-free binding assays
- Monodisperse particles: uniform size enables high-quality structural data (cryo-EM, X-ray)
- Defined stoichiometry: each disc contains one target molecule for quantitative kinetics
Applications
- SPR/BLI kinetics: measuring antibody and ligand binding to membrane targets
- Structural biology: cryo-EM and crystallization of GPCRs and transporters
- Drug screening: detergent-free functional and binding assays
- Enzymology: studying membrane enzyme kinetics in a native-like environment
