High-Purity Avi-Tagged Proteins
BioCrest Sci provides 193 high-purity Avi-tagged recombinant proteins for site-specific enzymatic biotinylation — enabling SPR, BLI, and MHC tetramer applications. Purity greater than 90%.
What Is the Avi-Tag?
The Avi-tag (GLNDIFEAQKIEWHE) is a 15-amino-acid peptide recognized by the E.coli biotin ligase BirA, which attaches a single biotin molecule to a specific lysine residue. Unlike random chemical biotinylation, Avi-tag biotinylation is site-specific, stoichiometric (1:1), and preserves protein activity — the gold standard for quantitative binding assays.
Key Applications
SPR and BLI Binding Assays
Avi-biotinylated proteins immobilize on streptavidin chips with defined orientation and density — enabling reproducible kinetics (ka, kd, KD) for antibody and receptor binding studies.
MHC Tetramers
Biotinylated MHC-peptide monomers assembled on streptavidin tetramers are the standard reagent for antigen-specific T cell detection by flow cytometry.
Phage Display and Antibody Screening
Biotinylated targets capture on streptavidin beads for panning and screening campaigns with minimal steric interference.
