High-Purity Biotinylated Proteins
BioCrest Sci provides 110 high-purity biotinylated recombinant proteins for ELISA detection, Western Blot, and streptavidin-based capture workflows. Purity greater than 90%.
What Are Biotinylated Proteins?
Biotinylated proteins carry one or more biotin molecules covalently attached to lysine residues or through engineered tags. The biotin-streptavidin interaction (KD ≈ 10⁻¹⁴ M) is the strongest non-covalent binding known in biology, providing nearly irreversible capture and extreme detection sensitivity.
Key Applications
ELISA and Immunoassay Detection
Biotinylated antigens paired with streptavidin-HRP amplify detection signals in sandwich ELISA — standard practice in cytokine and biomarker assays.
Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation
Streptavidin-based detection and pull-down enable clean signal with minimal background from endogenous biotin.
Cell Staining and Flow Cytometry
Biotinylated proteins with streptavidin-fluorophore conjugates provide flexible multi-color staining options.
Selection Tips
- Check biotin-to-protein ratio — over-biotinylation can block epitopes
- Choose Avi-tagged proteins when site-specific labeling matters
- Verify activity retention after biotinylation for functional assays
