Function
Is a NPY2R agonist involved in the down-regulation of appetite and food intake, probably acting on receptors located on proopiomelanocortin(POMC)-releasing and neuropeptide Y(NPY)-releasing neurons in the arcuate nucleus of hypothalamus. In NPY-releasing neurons, NPY2R activation by PYY(3-36) leads to membrane hyperpolarization and reduced release of the orexigenic neuropeptide NPY.
