Function
Attaches the virus to the human SLAMF1/CD150 receptor for entry into host dendritic cells, macrophages, activated memory T cells and naive or memory B cells, thereby explaining the long immunosuppression that follows infection. In the respiratory airways, binds to the NECTIN4 receptor for entry into the host cell. Binding of H protein to the receptor induces a conformational change that allows the F protein to trigger virion/cell membranes fusion.
Biological Context
Subcellular Location: Virion membrane (Single-pass type II membrane protein); Host cell membrane (Single-pass type II membrane protein)
