Function
Adheres to and induces bacterial uptake by human epithelial cells (Probable). Upon expression in engineered Y.enterocolitica confers an 11- to 15-fold increase in bacterial adherence and uptake by human epithelial cell lines; part of the uptake is mediated by integrin beta-1 (ITGB1) suggesting it may be a human receptor for NadA. A bacterial cell surface protein; antisera against this protein induce complement-mediated killing of this and other strains.
Biological Context
Subcellular Location: Cell surface; Cell outer membrane
