Function
Part of major adhesin Nap complex of the attachment organelle which mediates attachment to host ciliated epithelium and plays a major role in gliding motility. Binds sialylated oligosaccharides, which are present on the surface of its human host cells and which probably serve as the main host cell receptors for this bacterium. This protein and P1 mutually stabilize each other, and are required for formation of the attachment organelle.
Biological Context
Subcellular Location: Cell projection, attachment organelle membrane (Single-pass membrane protein); Cell surface
