Function
Receptor for the lysosphingolipid sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). S1P is a bioactive lysophospholipid that elicits diverse physiological effects on most types of cells and tissues. Receptor for the chemokine-like protein FAM19A5.
Biological Context
Subcellular Location: Cell membrane (Multi-pass membrane protein)
Tissue Specificity: Most abundant in heart and lung; low, but clearly observed in kidney, liver and thymus; much lower but detectable in brain, testis, stomach and intestine. Not significantly detected in any of the sections of embryonic day (E) 14-18, except in embryonic brain
