Function

Liver-produced hormone that constitutes the main circulating regulator of iron absorption and distribution across tissues. Acts by promoting endocytosis and degradation of SLC40A1, leading to the retention of iron in iron-exporting cells and decreased flow of iron into plasma. Controls the major flows of iron into plasma: absorption of dietary iron in the intestine, recycling of iron by macrophages, which phagocytose old erythrocytes and other cells, and mobilization of stored iron from hepatocytes.

Biological Context

Subcellular Location: Secreted
Tissue Specificity: Highly expressed in the liver and to a much lesser extent in the heart. Secreted in blood

Product Specifications

Recombinant Mouse Hepcidin (Hamp), partial is a recombinant protein from Mus musculus (Mouse), expressed in E.coli, covering amino acids 59-83aa, with N-terminal GST-tagged tag, molecular weight 29.4kDa, purity Greater than 90% as determined by SDS-PAGE.. Suitable for ELISA and Western Blot applications.

SDS-PAGE: Single band at expected molecular weight confirming purity.

ELISA: Suitable as coating antigen or detection standard.

Western Blot: Compatible with standard Western Blot protocols.

Protein Interaction: Validated for SPR (Surface Plasmon Resonance) and BLI (Bio-Layer Interferometry) studies.

Shipping: Shipped at ambient temperature. Lyophilized protein is stable during transit.

Storage: Store lyophilized protein at -20°C to -80°C. Reconstituted protein should be aliquoted and stored at -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
